Sowing and Reaping

August 10, 2011

The cover picture of the March-April 2010 issue of NGJ Magazine featured children preparing fall seeds for spring planting. Those seeds were stored and later planted in Spring with the anticipation of a fall harvest. You know the Biblical principle of sowing and reaping applies to many aspects of our lives. This particular sowing was of corn seed and the reaping will be corn, to feed the chickens for winter and grind some corn for meal.

Mike spent time preparing the ground before he planted his seed. Then he took the time to cultivate the corn while it was growing to keep the weeds out. A few months time will go by and, if all the growing conditions were right, there will be a crop. Then it will be time to harvest. As you can tell, sowing and reaping is work. But the reward is in the harvest.
