I am unsure as to what the commenter above me is trying to say. The scripture reads: Pro 22:15 "Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him." Knowing God's ways and His Word, I think it is safe to say here that God's Word is not in err, but possibly the delivery of your punishment might not have been as proper as it should have been, or something else not being right, but not God's word. It appears also to me, just as a reader, that you do have some good training, as you are here on this site, reading about child training. Maybe your view of yourself is not as accurate of a portrayal of your righteousness in God's eyes as you suspect? I am one that believes that the 'righteousness' obtained the way the bible presents it doesn't 'feel' like it is described in many church cultures today. These are just my thoughts...but I was moved to type them here.

Remembering getting spanked when I was a kid (I'm now 32), I doubt that a spoken explanation of the different spankings in the same session would make any difference to the child; it's all one spanking. If two cat boxes are placed side-by-side or nearly so, the animals view the two boxes as one. You may try explaining that one box is for this cat and the other box for that cat, but your ideas don't matter; they are the same box. I realize that children are not cats and have reason, but I believe the principle to be the same. Your spanking process seems to deal only with behavior. I believe it more appropriate to deal with the heart. Explaining: "Your screaming shows me your angry, rebellious heart. The Lord does not allow that and demands that I correct it." God's word does not say foolishness is acted out, but the rod of correction will put an end to the behavior. From experience I can tell you that only the behavior will stop, but the heart attitude remains. I became better at bearing my punishment and resolving to better conceal my misdeeds/transgressions. The last time I was spanked I thought to myself as I lay over my dad's knee "Why am I crying? It'll be over in a minute" and quit crying. I do not even remember why I was getting spanked. Apparently, God's righteousness was not achieved.
