Prepare with the goal in mind of being able to survive without leaving your home for 3 months. You must be able to adequately provide food, water, hygiene, heat, a way of cooking, etc. Use common sense in choosing food that will not spoil and will be easy to prepare without electricity.
It is vital to have books on hand that can teach you practical methods of treating illnesses, finding natural food sources, outdoor living, basic farming knowledge, and books that will teach you how to use the things listed below. If you don’t know how to use them, they will be useless! Check the web sites we have listed below for good books. There is a vast wealth of excellent information out there, but be wise as you research, as much of what you read could prove to be misleading, unreliable, or just plain nonsense.
Here are some crucial things you will want to have handy:
- Chlorine bleach
- Essential oils such as cinnamon, eucalyptus and oregano.
- Zinc-gluconate lozenges
- Fresh garlic
- Elderberry extract
- Ginsana (standardized ginseng extract available at Wal-Mart)
- A stack of paper masks, the kind sanders or painters use, very inexpensive.
Here are some things you can greatly benefit by researching for yourself:
- Pine needles
- Honey products including Bee Propolis
Your local librarian at the public library can help you open these websites and print off the free information so you can make a notebook for reference. Some of these sites also have books and products you can buy. Some of these sites are secular.
