Due to gastrointestinal bleeding, at one week old, my first baby was taken off breast and put on soy formula. We later found his intestinal distress was caused by a bacterial infection. He went back on breast milk, but at that point, needed supplementation due to the loss of my milk supply. He still had colic, so I switched him to a dairy-based formula and his issues finally subsided. Around the age of one, he began having allergic reactions to legumes: beans, peas, peanut, and surprise surprise: all things soy! He also has asthma. My subsequent children, who have been raised mostly soy free, are also allergy free. It is my opinion that the exponential rise in peanut allergies, the most deadly allergy, is related to giving babies soy formula.

I just wanted to say, I am allergic to soy and when I had my first, severe reaction, YOUR article was one of the only pieces of info I could find...THANK YOU! I just last night started researching again after about 8-10 years of dealing with this allergy and there is probably HUNDREDS of articles available from 'professionals' of all kinds warning us to avoid soy.

Please don't ever hesitate to obey the LORD when HE leads you to write something so controversial, HE used you so many times, and you may have saved my life back then...my own doctor told me to "try it again cuz it could not be the soy I was allergic to" and the poison control center had told me if was ever exposed to soy again, even in the smallest amounts, I could have an even more severe anaphylactic reaction and could DIE.

GOD bless you and all of your family.

I have a question. I've noticed that in many foods they add soy lecithin, which is an additive. It's derived from soybeans. Is this also bad?

My grandmother was found to have breast cancer and she is a meat-eating, milk-drinking person & has been her entire life. One of her children is a little slow mentally. So I see what you are saying, but the argument is the same for dairy milk. I would ask that if you present an article such as the above that you also do one for dairy as well.

Oh thanks!! As I read it I thanked God, too, that my husband would not follow my ides so much, and that I would set him free from any obligation to follow my ideas about soy!
