Excellent information. We are parents on the same path. We are now at the beginning of the courting phase with our first daughter she is 23. All has been as you have described with him asking to talk to her and get to know her. We are all in the same church (except his parents they are out of town) and see each other quite often. We are a little out of the "water" on knowing how long the getting to know you phase should last? So far we have not isolated the young man for "questioning" :) and are not sure if he should come to us or us to him first? We feel he is very much a suitable match for her but still have loads of questions of a deeper level to ask.

Thank you for having some good thoughts on this issue. Though I must say, I find the whole fact that Christians are obsessed with this stuff a creepy sign. It's a sign that parents want their flesh to reign and that they do not trust the Holy Spirit's guidance of their child.
