Go, and Sneer No...
Jumping Ship (Part 1)
What to do so your children don’t jump ship to the world when they get older.
Sanctuary
Face it, the church today is not a sanctuary from the world nor is it a “holy” place.
Living Parallel Lives in the Same Space
“We appear to be on track in every way, and very “together.” But those on the outside do not see, as I do, the missing component in our parent-child relationships.” – From a reader
Engaged
…one day, just when it seemed that God didn’t want me to be married any time in the next 20 years, I received an e-mail from my mom. She wrote about a young lady that she and my sisters had met who was absolutley phenomenal. Her name was Kelsie…
From Kelsie
It was a balmy evening in March. The tree branches waved in the breeze and ducks swam in the nearby pond. My little brother and I skipped stones on the water while my parents strolled along the winding path. “Kelsie,” my dad called, “we have something to show you.” Wonderingly, I untied the burgundy ribbon from the parchment paper scroll that he handed me and began to read. “Dear Kelsie…my purpose in writing you this letter is to see if you would be willing to begin a courtship relationship…”
ROMANCE 101
I’ve asked a male or two this question in a over a dozen foreign countries: “What is the most valuable and attractive attribute a woman can have in your culture?” The answer has been consistent in every country, Happy, cheerful, fun, joyful, smiling, good attitude… etc.
Church Youth Group
Dear Pearls,
We homeschool our three children. Now that the oldest one has turned 13, we feel under some pressure for him to participate with the church youth and their weekend retreats.
Arranged Marriage
Dear Mike and Deb,
My sister went through the courtship thing and married in complete harmony with Dad and Mom, etc. and she really believes she married the man whom God chose for her; but things have not worked out too well.
Low Self-Esteem
My 9-year-old son has low self-esteem. He expects too much of himself. He feels rejected. We have never talked down to him, although there have been others who have expressed that they did not want him around.
God Did It Again!
Today Shalom and I canned green beans and potatoes. I can’t express to you how fun it was. Last year it was work, just a matter of doing a job that needed doing.
