On April 18th, my friends helped me celebrate my 18th birthday with a fundraiser for No Greater Joy Ministries. “3 on 3 Basketball” with a 3-point contest and a foul shot contest. Food, fun, friends, fellowship. The Goal? To raise money to purchase Good and Evil Bibles for a prison ministry. The result? Shoot 4 Hope raised $500.00! Although I was unable to participate in the games due to a knee injury, I look forward to next year.
My decision to host Shoot 4 Hope was inspired by my sister, Becca, a shining light for Christ. In the 2nd grade, Becca was so moved by a visit to an orphanage that she began Becca's Birthday Bash. Each year since 2nd grade, Becca has had her birthday party at an orphanage. Instead of giving Becca gifts, guests give gifts to the orphanage children. Many of these kids have never been to a birthday party before. I am so thankful for my generous friends and family. Instead of giving me gifts they made donations to No Greater Joy that totaled $500.00. Many of these donations came from people on very limited budgets: a folded up $10.00 bill, crumpled $1.00 bill, etc. Can't wait to see how God uses this money to change the lives of people who may feel hopeless.
