Return of an Investment

About eleven years ago, a little girl came with her parents to one of our last homeschool events. I have no memory of this event, but she says I slipped a cheap child’s bracelet on her skinny arm and said, “This is a gift to help you remember to pray for the man that God has for you to marry.” A few days before her wedding, Ashlyn was going through her hope chest and found that small bracelet, and the memory of that time washed over her.
During our ministry years I slipped bracelets on the arms of lots of sweet little girls. But this one was mine; I just didn’t know it. God knew it, though, and he had her save her bracelet to let her know he cared. God is good. He is always good. Sometimes we might not know for many years what precious things he does for us, and sometimes we will never know, but he is there working on our behalf.
Our life has not been a bed of roses. We had serious health issues in our younger years, we have had setbacks and tears, but we have trusted that God has our good in mind, and through it all we have learned to trust him more. Now, in our twilight years, these amazing things just keep cropping up, reminding us over and over how God has used every opportunity to bless others—and us.
He has our backs. He has always had our backs. And if you trust him, he has yours too.
Be proud that God is your God. Be so proud that you let folks know how much you love him. This is honor, praise, and glory to God. And it matters a lot.
Sow good seeds. Sow often. Sow boldly. You may not see the harvest, but it is coming and it is good.
