Debi Pearl grew up in the 1960s during the hippie revolution and the Jesus Movement. As a teenager, she shared the gospel and experienced many miracles of God's grace while dressed in a tie-dye tee shirt and a long peasant skirt. She married Michael Pearl in 1971, and for the first fifteen years of their marriage, they worked as professional artists while ministering to the military. About 23 years ago, they moved to rural Tennessee, where they continued their ministry through Bible studies and started a prison ministry.
Debi has authored or co-authored several books with Michael, including their first book on child training, To Train Up A Child, published in 1994. This book has sold over 650,000 copies in English and Spanish. Debi's last book, Created To Be His Help Meet, published in 2004, has sold over 350,000 copies and has been translated into multiple languages. She followed this with a companion journal in 2006. To date, over one million of her books have been sold worldwide.
The Pearls are also known for their bi-monthly magazine, which explores topics like child training and marriage. They have five married children and fourteen grandchildren. Their ministry, No Greater Joy Ministries (NGJ), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has active distributors in fourteen countries. One of their largest projects involves translating the illustrated Bible storybook Good and Evil into 100 languages, with 25 languages already in print.
In 2009, Debi published her first novel, The Vision. The Pearls continue to focus on parenting and family relationships, aiming to help parents break generational cycles and cultivate effective parenting practices based on biblical principles.
