I would like to start by first saying. As a young wife I will be learning with each one of you as we read through Created and that I do not consider myself as the teacher. I consider my mom as the teacher as we are studying her book. If any of you ask question as we read through the book I will be going to my mom for the answer or one of you ladies that are older and wiser can answer it for us. I will open and close the discussions though. I hope each of you will be encouraged once again as we read through it together. Shalom

What words came to mind as you studied “Meet” I came up with, Due-befitting-worthy-fitting-right-qualified-and useful. My thought was that a help meet would be worthy, right and qualified, to be her husband’s helper that she would fit into his life and do right by him. What did you learn from your study of the word meet?

I felt honoured to understand what meet meant. Wow i am called to be a help to my husband… the same word David used when he was talking about God helping him! I am amazed that I was created for such a purpose as this… thinking about it makes me feel confident and special… and all the things you said shalom.

The words I saw were: fully equipped for, suitable, exactly what was needed, right action/person, proper, good, right, ready, perfect fit.

I feel a help meet is a woman who knows her calling as a wife to her husband is God appointed to her and she is fully content, joyful and thankful in this role. Because of this understanding, she steadily works towards being a consistent woman of passion and excellence in serving her husband.

Thanks so much for doing this, Shalom! This is a great refresher course for me, that I need!

Meet…. I like to think of it as denying my own needs and reaching out to meet (fill, serve) my husband’s needs. His position deserves it, and so does his person. 🙂

I glanced over my original notes that I took in my book (feels like so long ago, but it wasn’t), and it’s amazing how “groundbreaking” everything was for me. I remember taking the book to my mom and saying, surprised, “Mom! This book validates everything you’ve done in your marriage to make it work!!” Thank God for my mom, and yours, too, Shalom. They’re wonderful 🙂

Sorry ladies, I was gone all week, I just got home tonight.
What verses did you find for the words Virtue, Graciousness, Wisdom, Prudence, and Goodness. Which one of these attributes do you need to work on in your own life? And what new thing are you doing to help you husband? I am going to go spend time with my man now. hehehe

I am finally here to post!

I have thoroughly enjoyed learning all the different words of the Bible as they relate to women. The all influenced me greatly, and I have a desire to study each word more from the Word of God. The Scriptures I found were:

      For Virtue
      Scriptures: Ruth 3:11, Proverbs 12:4, Proverbs 31:10, Proverbs 31:29

      For Graciousness
      Scriptures: Ruth 2:2, Ruth 2:10, Proverbs 4:9, Proverbs 11:16,

      For Wisdom
      Scriptures: Proverbs 14:1, Proverbs 31:26, Exodus 35:25, 26, 1 Samuel 25:3

      For Prudence
      Scripture: Proverbs 19:14

      For Goodness
      Scriptures: 1 Samuel 1:23, 1 Samuel 25:3, Proverbs 18:22, Acts 9:36

It was not easy to narrow it down to one particular attribute, but after some thought, I think the one word study that caught my attention the most was being a virtuous woman. The reason for this was that a virtuous woman is a “crown” to her husband.

What I learned was a virtuous woman causes others to see her husband as a man of distinction, honourable and of good character and mind, highly respected, even reverenced and elevated in position ALL because of who SHE IS. It has nothing to do with what he has done or won through rewards. SHE makes him to be known as an amazing and highly regarded man because of, first, her fear of God and thus willingly obeying His Word. This then means she will be pure, modest, and beneficial in her mind and conversation (actions, speech, expressions, etc) towards others, and willingly develops excellence in skills and character qualities to help her husband achieve his goals and calling. All the other words we studied were things a woman is to learn or gain as a quality of excellence to become a real virtuous wife.

Because this woman is virtuous, she will be elevated in her husband’s eyes and life. She will be his only confidant, his wise advisor, his lover and best friend…. just as Debbie explained in this chapter.

So the attribute I will work on is being a virtuous wife to my husband. Initially, I thought this goal appeared to be a monumental and overwhelming task, but after some reflection over the last 10 years, I see that, without fully realizing it, I have been working towards this goal since I began to allow God to change me into being a better wife. And I have seen much fruit come of this change especially recently which I am so thankful for.

At the same, I know I still have some major areas in my life, such as my attitudes and speech, that need an effectual change. I know this is a no-brainer, but the truth that is becoming really real to me – finally- is that I cannot change myself through my own means and strength. Rather, it is ONLY through God and the working of His Holy Spirit that I will develop the fruits of the Spirit and be a virtuous woman.

How am I going to do this…well, the one thing I am going to do is to consistently spend time with God daily, aiming to do this first thing in the morning. I want to get to know Him more than I ever have before. I want to rely on Him for strength rather than myself. I want Him to walk with me through the day as He speaks to me through His Spirit in all the things I think, say, and do. I want to be led by the Spirit continuously. For I know that in doing this, my relationship with God will deepen greatly, and He will make effectual changes in my life. And everything else will fall into place as it should because God is my LORD and the one doing the work.

I am looking forward to hearing what othes have learned.

Hello. I had started on the study words and have found them extremely interesting to learn about, but my time began to be taken up by unexpected situations, so I was not able to complete my study. I will post them when I get it done studying them…hopefully by the end of this week.

So… this is really laying my soul bare. Yikes. I knew I loved this book for a reason!
virtue: Phil 4:8 “…if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (the things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report)
graciousness: Col. 4:6 “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt…”
wisdom: Prov. 3:7 “Be not wise in thine own eyes…”
prudent: Prov. 15:5 “…he that regardeth reproof is prudent”
goodness: Ps. 107:9 “For he… filleth the hungry soul with goodness”

I need to work on all of these! I think it’s easier for a man to love a humble, positive woman who listens to his instruction because her wisdom will give her dignity, and her careful speech will give him honor. Then, she will find “grace in the sight of the Lord”, which will bring her whole family blessings and prosperity.

The new thing I’m doing for my husband is praying for him in specific matters, instead of in “general, glowing terms”! Yesturday morning, I prayed that he wold receive positive affirmation at work, and when he got home, he told me that he had received that very thing! Then, he was doubly blessed when he heard that it was an answer to my prayer. It also made for a very exciting prayer journal entry!!
