How do you know he’s not God’s will? Did you pray about it?
I have prayed alot.. then I started counseling with my pastor. With much guidance from my pastor I asked him 20 + questions that my pastor want to know.. Those questions showed me some of his heart and opened my eyes to some things in his life I did not see before.
Josie,
I appreciate you for being honest with yourself and the Lord. Once a girl gets her heart involved in a guy, it is so hard to really WANT to determine whether such a relationship is God’s will. It’s so tempting to just go along with it due to male attention.
I encourage you, since you know this relationship isn’t the Lord’s will, to make that very clear to this guy. Let him know that you don’t have peace about pursuing a deeper relationship with him. Even if it’s terribly hard — for him and for you — you can’t risk him possibly leading you more deeply into a relationship that you know isn’t the Lord’s will.
There will inevitably be a rift between the two of you but I do believe you can still be friends. You may need to back off a little, and even cut back the amount of time you spend together, but don’t cut yourself off from him or treat him like you’re “shunning” him. That’s only adding more pain to an open wound. Pray for him and be kind to him.
I, too, am attending Bible college and I’ve seen these kinds of relationships develop. It’s so easy to build healthy relationships with godly guys that lead to something more, especially when everyone is so eager :), but you have to make certain that that “more” is God’s will.
I’ll be praying for you, Josie! Just trust God, do His will, and He will bring the right man into your life at the right time. Don’t settle for a man you don’t have peace about. God is in control.
Thanks so much… That was a true blessing
