Question

Posted September 17, 2012

I went to visit my friend Jeanette the other day, and while we were sitting around chatting I accidentally kicked over an expensive pot. Jeanette said “don’t worry about it, its nothing!” but then her Mom came in and she was so mad when she found out it was me. I don’t know what to do – I tried apologizing but she just stomped out of the room. I doubt she’ll want me to come back to her house anymore. But the only time I get to see Jeanette is if my dad or mom drops me off at her house (Jeanette and I are too young to drive). They go to a different church and she goes to a different school, so help please!!!!

First, I would call your friend’s mom and explain how sorry you are. Ask if there’s anything you can do that would make up for it. (Monetary value??) If that doesn’t work, ask your mom to help. Moms can take care of anything. 😉 She could help smooth things over, and maybe call her again. Or you could go over to the house again and talk in person. Just make sure your apology is heartfelt!

Could you try sending her a card with money to buy a new one????

Write a very nice letter of apology and mail it to her. She may have just been mad at the time. She very well might have cooled off later, especially since it was an accident.

It may take some time for her to cool off. She may be easier to talk with then. Maybe offering to pay for a replace would help.

Writing an apology letter, and offering to pay is a great idea. Guard yourself that you do not become a mean ole’ mama like that. It was just a vase, but you are a person. You know now how to be a sweet gracious young lady, and can see by her example that getting angry over possessions can really hurt the feelings of those around you.

If you can instead of just giving her money to buy a new one go buy it yourself. Then she will see that you used both your time and money trying to make amends. If it looked pretty old you can try Ebay
and if you can’t find it get one as similar as possible 😀
