Question

Posted July 16, 2012

I live with my grandma and she doesn’t let me wear heels. She thinks it makes ladies look too sexy to wear high heels. I think it makes girls look pretty to wear them as long as they’re not like 6″ or anything, so does anyone have any idea of what to do? I want to be pretty but I can’t disobey my grandma since she is my prettymuch my parent!

Try compromising–maybe show her a pair of shoes with short heels? If that doesn’t work, I’m not sure what would…

I talked to my serious boyfriend about this, and it really turns guys on. I know it sounds weird, because I think it does, but it really is a stumbling block. o_O Your grandmother is right – no worries, eventually, when you’re married, you don’t have to worry about it anymore 😉

since she is the ‘parent’ figure in your life right now, you probably should follower her rules/boundries as far as clothing goes. You can TOTALLY look pretty without heels. Are you allowed to wear wedges? Or clogs? Those are both feminine shoes that add a little hight, but without making the leg look as ‘noticable’ if you know what I mean by that… Ask if you can wear shorter heels that have thicker heels to them– this makes the shoe less sleek and more cute-sy [and easyer to walk in!]. Not in a ‘kiddish’ way, but in a modest way:) You can be every bit as beautiful in flats as you can in heels– and one day when you’re able to wear what you want, you can wear heels if you still want to– although I think it’s important for every girl to know the facts about what certin clothing does to guys, so I HIGHLY recomend you check out this site to get the low-down on what guys think about heels on girls:

[click under categories “Makeup/Jewelry/Hair/Shoes” then scroll down the list to the bottom where it says “High-heeled shoes (2″ or higher) are a stumbling block.” and click it to see if guys agree with that statment or not]

Yes, you should certainly honor your grandmother. Have you talked to your grandma about this? It may be that she would be okay with you wearing a small heel with a longer skirt. Maybe she is afraid that you would wear really high heels and skimpy outfits (which I’m sure is not what you’re wanting to do!) Maybe if you talked about it, the two of you could set some guidelines. But of course, if she is still opposed to you wearing heels at all, you need to honor and obey her decision. And keep in mind that you don’t need to wear heels to be pretty. 🙂 I own several pairs of heels, but usually find myself pulling out the good old flip flops every morning purely for the sake of comfort.

Maybe you could try going shoe shopping with her and together you pick out a pair of heels that you both like? (just a thought)

I also really like cowboy(or cowgirl lol) boots! They are super fun (add a little extra height) easy to walk in and look great with skirts.

Off topic: for the summer consider getting a pair of Chaco’s sandals. They are a little bit expensive new (but you can find them on resale website like Ebay for cheaper) but WELL worth it! They are the most comfortable shoes EVER (esp. if you have high arches they provide great support) and they come in lots of colors 😀
