In 1994, Michael and Debi Pearl published To Train Up A Child. The book became the “handbook on child training” for many homeschool families. The Pearls received so many child training questions in the mail that they began publishing a free newsletter to answer them—No Greater Joy. As the mailing list grew into the thousands, subscribers kept asking for back issues, thus the publication of No Greater Joy Volume One. We have since published Volume Two, and Volume Three—each book representing about two years of articles from back issues of the newsletter. If you have read To Train Up A Child and you have questions, chances are you will find the answers in the No Greater Joy series.

Preface
Soon after the publication of our first book we began receiving far more mail than we could ever answer, so we instituted No Greater Joy, our monthly newsletter, to answer the most often asked questions. The newsletter evolved into a small magazine. Subscription is free upon request.
Each month Deb and I answer the most pressing needs in No Greater Joy. Every day we receive requests for back issues, which were long since depleted. For the most part, the same questions are asked over and over again. Rather than continuing to answer the same questions, we thought it best to reprint in book form the child training articles from our first two years of newsletters. Some of the articles have undergone minor editing. We have not attempted to group the articles in subjects. We have followed the basic order in which they were written over a two-year period. The most significant issues—those that were repeatedly asked—were dealt with several times. If we had grouped the articles into subjects, reading them consecutively would have been redundant in some cases. Rather than edit several articles on the same subject into a single shorter version, it is our thinking that the repeat may serve to reinforce the more crucial issues. By reading two or three articles each day, over several weeks the reader will experience the variety of issues in the order they developed from the questions we received from our readers.
We have included a rather thorough index that will make this an easy to use handbook.
