Bible Questions with Michael Pearl
Episode 013: Did Nimrod build the tower of Babel out of fear of God flooding the earth a second time?

By Michael Pearl

Episode Transcription:

Michael Pearl:  All right, I'm Michael Pearl. I'm back here again to answer your bible questions. I have not seen these questions. I don't want to have my mind pretty occupied with them. So Jared got them here and he is going to read me one and I'm going to give it a shot. What do you got there Jared?

Jared:  Is there any historical documentation to back up the supposition that Nimrod was adversarial to God and built a tower of Babel out of fear of God flooding the earth a second time?

Michael: OK, Nimrod. There is a book called the Two Babylons by Alexander Hislop. It is an old history book about a hundred fifty years old maybe something like that. And it is one of the key sources; of course, he has compiled more intricate sources. It is one of the key sources compiled when one speak of Nimrod.

Now, how much of that is true and how much of that is speculation? I have no idea. I am not sure that it is really relevant, I mean, what doctrine does it affect? What position of scripture does it affect? I've read Alexander Hislop portions of it in the Two Babylons but I've not found it something essential to make a decision on one way or the other. You have to get back to the book. Read it yourself read the background material and make your own decisions for that if it is important to you.
