I tried!

February 12, 2013

Early this year we had a place we thought we could use for this year’s Shindig but we didn’t have peace about it. We finally found another place and started plans and negotiations; but delay after delay followed, so we took the hint and have decided to postpone the Shindig until this Fall. We do have a pile of smashing ideas, and lots of folks willing to help us see it through, and we still have plenty of time to find a good place for big families as well as singles. Mike wants to teach on child training and rekindling marriages at this Shindig. Watch for an announcement about the location and dates, as we are working on a deal now.

  1. You need to hold one in Pennsylvania. We have the absolutely perfect place to do it, too. Our extended family has grown so large we now have to hold our gatherings at the Roxbury Holiness Camp, in Roxbury, Pennsylvania. We rent their all-purpose building, equipped with kitchen and bathrooms, that has a volleyball court and basketball hoop. The Camp has many, cute, family-sized cabins nestled in a charming, wooded area complete with a small mountain stream. There is separate men's and ladies chapels, chow hall, and a spacious meeting house. Not sure about camper hook-ups. If you want to check it out, the camp number is 717-532-2208. This time of year, you may have to leave a message and wait for someone to call you back. My name is Debbie Beam and my number is 717-423-5575.

  2. Roxbury Holiness Camp in Roxbury, PA is a great place to have your shindig. We hold our family gatherings in their all purpose building. The camp has many family-sized cabins, a chow hall, separate men's and ladies chapels, and a spacious meeting house for large groups. It is in a lovely wooded area and a mountain stream runs through it. We attended a meeting of yours at Canaan Valley years ago and I keep thinking how nice this place would be to have a meeting of this nature. If you are interested, call the camp at 717-532-2208. Hope this helps! D Beam

  3. I truly enjoy your website and all of the stories and messages about God and marriages and families. I truly would love for our family to be able to attend the shindig. Our marriage truly needs rekindling. We get along good, but haven't really made time for each other. My husband says, we just can't afford it. We live in N.C. I ask for your prayers that we would be able to attend. We are a family of 4. We live in N.C. North Carolina would be a great place for the Shindig! : )
