Question

Posted April 25, 2013

There’s this leader in a Christian club on campus who’s really passionate about Jesus and witnessing to others, but he often gets stuck and can’t figure out what to say, and I often feel (and suppress) the urge to jump in and take the conversation over.  Often, when he’s referencing a particular passage of scripture, I read the passage aloud for his benefit.

He also knows that I’m starting a pro-life club and is being very supportive, even (tentatively) planning to teach on Prov. 31:8-9 to recruit new membership for my club.

Recently he mentioned that he’d like to start the club meetings off with music, and I volunteered to play violin, so we’ve been texting about music, church and the pro-life club.

So, with this background, how do I give him tips to help him witness more effectively, without seeming “spiritually superior” or coming off as romantically interested in him?  I just want to edify him and build him up as a brother in Christ.

Thanks for any help!

You do not need to help him. You are not his help meet. God is able to work in his life far better than a mere mortal like you or I could. Focus your talents on yourself, and your ministry. You sound like a wonderful gal with a heart for Jesus, but sometimes correcting people over trivial matters is hurtful. Also, you are a woman, and not an elder, you need not impart your wisdom on someone who is not related to you. God worked through Moses who claimed he was slow in speech/ God may give him a man to be his friend and helper in the ministry, Aaron helped moses, not their sister. Great job working in many ministries, though! I hope that your pro-life club can do outreach to help poor mothers in need. There is a pro-life organization in my area that provides through donations clothes, diapers, furniture, and Biblical love and support to mommies who need love raising babies. What a blessing you are going to be to others! Just worry about yourself and helping others by giving praise of their good deeds, and help to the poor! God bless. I hope you post all the good charities you and your sisters do in the pro-life club to show that Christians not only talk the talk, but walk the walk and help others who are in great need of compassion and the example of Jesus.

Thanks. That’s a hard pill to swallow, but it makes sense.
