Question

Posted February 5, 2013

I don’t know many Christian guys, mainly only the ones at my church. There’s a group aimed at people in their 20’s that meets once a week at a church close by that I’m interested in. I would like to get to fellowship with more Christians in my area, and I’ve heard this is pretty popular. If I don’t meet my husband there, but I fellowship more and grow spiritually, I’ll be happy. But, to be honest, I probably wouldn’t be as interested in it if I was in a relationship.

I feel kind of desperate just writing this, but, what do you guys think?

Beware of the wolves that walk in on such youth and singles groups. Some are druggies who claim to be Christian but are unwilling to let go of former sin. They are male and only join the group to find a “pretty girl” and get her alone. Maybe another would want to marry a girl and latter dump all scriptural and Christian convictions out the window to turn to atheist lifestyle. Another could be a serial rapist.

Those are things to beware of and it happens more often than we like to believe. Others are so involved with worldly affairs (movie theaters, gambling etc) that they really don’t have time for truly living for God.

Seek the protection of natural father, brother, a wise older woman who is not to showy or busy.

It is better to be a part of a group that serves the community in some way, so you know that the single men you are around actually want to do service in various ways. Maybe another group performs for churches or missions groups. Maybe another group serves sunday school and bible school activities. Maybe another group sings songs at nursing home. Those are better options that will help you check out the character of the person before long term commitment.

If you would like to do a bible study group, do the group with family integrated purposes to get more truth and less division based on current life status.
