I have a female friend who made a skirt by sewing together men’s neckties. Does this count as wearing clothing pertaining to a man, and is it unacceptable? If it is, is there anything that I can say to her?

First of all, you need to keep in mind that the verse about not wearing a man’s clothing is a part of the law. We are now under grace and do not have to follow the law- for example: kosher, the sacrifice, putting rebellious teens to death.
The other thing to keep in mind is the spirit of the law, verses the letter of the law. A pair of socks my be labeled “mens” but come from the same pattern and machines and supplies as the “womens” socks across the isle.
I hope I am making sense. The short answer is- no that is not men’s clothing, but women’s clothing. No man (in his right mind) would where that.
Although neckties are considered something a guy would wear, she has altered it and made it feminine. I honestly don’t think it’s wrong, because as beth says, no guy in his right mind would wear that. 🙂
